Bellator Signs Greco-Roman Wrestler Joe Warren

The competition is getting to be something fierce in the Bellator featherweight division, as former Greco-Roman World Champion wrestler Joe Warren became the latest major signing for the upstart promotion. Warren is the fifth announced fighter and probably the most recognizable name in the field. A former Michigan University wrestling standout, Warren continued his wrestling career on the international level in the Greco-Roman style, winning the 2006 FILA World Championship, which established him as the favorite for gold in the 2008 Olympics. Warren’s path to gold was interrupted by a positive test for THC, found commonly in marijuana, and received a two-year ban from competition.
Strikeforce Miami Results and Live Play-By-Play

Strikeforce arrives in Miami tonight with a packed card at the Bell Atlantic Center in Sunrise, FL. Prelminary bouts begin at 7:30pm, with the televised card airing on Showtime at 10pm EST. Nick Diaz and Marius Zaromskis will square off for the vacant welterweight title while Christiane “Cyborg” Santos will make her first defense of the women’s featherweight title against Marloes Coenen. Also featured on the card are the Strikeforce debuts of former NFL running back and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker and former WWE pro wrestler Bobby Lashley.
Syracuse Survives Scare At DePaul

The Syracuse Orangemen came out sleeping at the start for the second straight game, but were able to overcome an 18-point deficit on the road to defeat the DePaul Blue Demons 59-57 in a Big East Conference matchup. Syracuse was lead by Wes Johnson who registered 16 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the Orange. DePaul’s Will Walker scored 21 points in a losing effort.
Iguodala Trade Rumors Heat Up

Philadelphia 76ers GM Ed Stefanski all but confirmed rumors yesterday that the Sixers were active in trade discussions. When pressed about rumors that their top scorer Andre Iguodala was in the mix of trade talks, Stefanski replied “When I was in Jersey, and here, I don’t think there are untouchables.” Can Stefanski actually trade himself? Because if he trades away the club’s best player, he is going to need a one-way ticket out of town.

Know when to walk away and know when to run.” Somebody should have played the song for Johnny Damon, as his gamble didn’t pay off today as the New York Yankees signed former San Francisco Giants OF Randy Winn today as his replacement. The signing most likely is the final chapter of Damon’s tenure in New York.

There is nothing worse in sports when poor officiating impacts the result of a game. It is magnified when it happens in a game that decides who plays for the championship. The NFL is dealing with just this problem tonight, as Pete Morrelli’s crew totally dropped the ball with their erroneous calls that led to a New Orleans Saints overtime victory and a spot in the Super Bowl.
