Ducks Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

Yahoo Sports - 09/08/2010

Winger Joffrey Lupul will miss the opening of training camp and likely won't be ready for the start of the regular season because of a recurrence of a blood infection in his back. Lupul said he suffered the setback one month ago and stopped training because of the discomfort. Results from blood tests showed that the infection had returned, according to the team. Lupul will continue to take antibiotics for another four weeks and cannot do any physical activity during that time. He will be re-evaluated on or around Sept. 20, about two or three days after the Ducks open camp. Lupul said that being ready for the Ducks' season opener on Oct. 8 is not a possibility. There is no timetable for his return. "It's really frustrating," Lupul said.

The contract negotiations between restricted free agent forward Bobby Ryan and the Anaheim Ducks have rekindled. Agent for Marc Staal: We want a deal with Rangers (SportingNews.com)

Yahoo Sports - 08/27/2010

As negotiations between the New York Rangers and restricted free agent Marc Staal drag on into late August, rumors of pending offer sheets for the talented young defenseman have started to surface. But offer sheets aren’t the focus right now, said Staal agent Paul Krepelka of the Orr Hockey Group. “The report of an offer sheet is absolutely unfounded and our priority and focus is on finalizing a deal with the Rangers,” Krepelka wrote in an e-mail to Sporting News.
